Canon point/AU: Season 5, post mortem - AU difference of having Eliot Spencer (Leverage) for a twin brother
The reason for choosing him after death has several reasons. One, given that he is still under contract to the demonic law firm of hell, he will easily believe that being dragged to a dimension where he has to fight people to the death to entertain weird people was something his previous employers might do to him. Second, it neatly wraps up his canon for a new chapter to begin. Lastly, it puts him in the mindset of not trusting people. He was just betrayed by someone that was declared by all to be the hero as well as murdered at the hand of a person he once considered a friend. He is in a dark place and the perfect mindset to kill other people.
History: Lindsey grew up in a poor, fractured family in the trailer parks of Oklahoma. He is the oldest of six children, the youngest two of which died when he was only five years old. Those left were his younger twin Eliot, another brother and a sister. With his mother walking out on the family soon after the death of those two youngest, Lindsey learned very early on to depend on very few people.
He threw himself into studying with the idea burned deep into him that education would be his ticket out of the poverty he was born into. When hard work earned him a scholarship into the University of California, Hastings college of law, he left his family and never looked back.
His ties with his biological family broke when he entered law school, and for the first time Lindsey felt liberation he never knew. He changed his last name, got away from the oppression of his father, and lived as a new man. Although still poor, he was working his way out and was respected by his peers. It wasn’t long before his abilities caught the attention of new recruiters for the big law firms, and he was taken into the arms of Wolfram and Hart. Lindsey worked hard to establish himself in the new family of the firm and rapidly climbed up the ladder to be their esteemed golden boy. By 25, he was already Junior Partner, and in the year after, he even got promoted to vice president of one of the firm’s departments.
However, after another year of being ensconced in the darkness of the firm, he became disenchanted by the evils within it and left. Thereafter he went on a sojourn to rediscover himself and learn more about the supernatural world that the firm first exposed him to. It was his method of staying alive as well as away from the firm, and during the next two years he traveled the world picking up magic, power, and various training wherever he stopped.
His traveling continued until he heard the rumor that Wolfram and Hart was taken over by Angel Investigations, or, rather, Angel became the new CEO of W&H. He returned to L.A., determined to get to the bottom of that rumor. It was a disappointing revelation to find that things were indeed what he heard, and unable to resist sticking it to his old nemesis for switching sides when Angel gave him hell for it in the past, he began a plot of taking Angel down.
The plot fell apart when Angel turned his old bosses, the poweful demonic ones from another dimension, back on him and Lindsey was for a while taken away to a dimention where he was tortured everyday with his heart cut out.
His attitude towards Angel began to change when the vampire rescued him from the tortures of the holding dimension. Although he still hated his nemesis, he also began to realize that they might be able to work together after all. Too bad he was wrong and after Angel asked and used Lindsey's skills to help him fight his final battle, ordered for Lorne to have Lindsey killed. And because Lindsey once were friends with Lorne, practically his only friend from the old W&H days, he was unsuspecting and got shot to death.
Presentation: Standing at 5'10", Lindsey may not be the tallest tree in the forest, but he is no less well grown. He has a head of dark brown hair that he leaves growing down past his ears, and piercing blue-gray eyes that always seem to carry a shade of arrogance. Although not heavily built, the ex-lawyer clearly works out and has a strong physique that can give any fighter a run for their money.
In terms of playing for an audience, Lindsey knows how to present himself to a crowd. If he could lie through his teeth and smile sincere enough to convince a jury, he can more than play into an audience that has plenty of preconcepted notions. He will give them what they want, with smiles and the celebrity life, and be the perfect socialite to earn himself sponsors. Since he has a twin here, he will likely play off everything Eliot has already established too to sell the twin angle as much as he can.
Motivations: Lindsey is capable of cold and calculating and has shown to be many times, but certain buttons can still make him go off in fits of rage. When he is composed, he isn't afraid to use snark and sarcasm to get what he wants.
He wants power. He wants fame, he wants recognition. And if he died every few weeks or so, what did it matter? He used to get his heart cut out everyday while he was in that hell dimension. And if he had to sleep with someone to get to that position of power, well, he pretty much charmed and played the lover for a demon to get his chance at taking Angel down. In short, he will do anything to make sure he stays popular and the games are just the way he'll get that.
Dying back home didn't improve his disposition. Having grown up poor and in a large family, he learned early on that the only person he can truly depend on is himself. Wolfram and Hart validated the theory. Being murdered by people he had started trusting, and at the very hand of a pacifist he might have once thought of as a friend, was the final proof. It has made him bitter and vengeful, firmly believing that no one can be trusted. While he wants to be able to trust, his issues with believing in people will get in the way of that.
Twin Relationship:Lindsey and Eliot used to be close in the way two eldest brothers trying to be responsible for two other younger siblings would be. Their father was a hateful drunk and everything about the family fell to the twin's shoulders. However, the two developed very differently. While they both have the same capabilities, Lindsey followed his book smarts while Eliot followed his brawn. And after graduating high school, they both left home for a better life and, in short, haven't seen each other since.
During their time apart, Lindsey went to law school, got himself into a position of power for the law firm of hell, and changed a lot from the man he used to be. He learned that the world is cutthroat and selfish, and survival depended on his ability to raise above the others. This is especially true since his trust was betrayed several times.
Seeing Eliot in this strange new place again will shake the beliefs that he developed on his own and return him to his younger days when he was still a relatively caring and decent human being. It will make him less likely to be a backstabbing bastard as it will be his chance to undo all the evil that he learned and took as the norm. In short, Eliot will be Lindsey's chance to redeem himself.
Assuming he takes the chance.

For a hell dimension, the place was definitely strange. It was also not the worst either and as Lindsey hefted the broadsword he was provided, he thought, he might just be able to do something here. Swirling the sword in his hand in large circling arcs to get used to the length and heft of it, he slowly stepped up to the display area,
He was trained to fight off demons, a few manequins were hardly a challenge. However, as Lindsey neatly beheaded the first one and got barely an impressed glance by his judges, he realized this was harder than he thought. This wasn’t about convincing a jury, this was about capturing their attention in the first place, and there was nothing as dangerous as a bored jury.
What he needed were live targets. Cursing his inability to use animation spells in this dimension, Lindsey went with the next best thing and threw the beheaded mannequin. As it sailed over the rest of them, he leapt up, slamming his broadsword down in a move that would have pierced through an armoured demon, much less a piece of plastic. Both halves crashed loudly to the ground to draw the chatting heads of every man and woman on the watching stage.
And in the second their heads were still lifted, he stood and swung his broadsword in an arc that sliced through the scattered circle of mannequins that surrounded him.
Then straightening, he turned to his audience and grinned insolently. He didn't understand why some of them, a lot of them actually, were giving him strange looks, but he shrugged nonetheless. “Should’ve set up moving targets,” he said before turning and tossing the sword to one side on his way out.
